No, There's No "Boxing Button"It only feels like Yesterday that I heard that the Yellow Submarine was getting an early release in Liverpool (not Blackburn, Lancashire).
So, today I got myself A Ticket to Ride and visited the Town Where I (Wasn't) Born and popped into the LEGO store.
With a Little Help From My Friends there, I bought this groovy set and rushed home.
The set itself is absolutely beautiful, with intricate detail and lots of bright colours (especially, well, yellow). It's not difficult to put together and so I feel confident I can recommend this to an aspiring LEGO builder of any ability.
The minifigures are an absolute highlight. John, Paul, George and Ringo and brilliantly detailed with two faces on the head piece, depending on how you want them to feel. It also comes with a nice stand, as well as accessories that you may recognise from the movie!
The set is completed with a small stand (where Jeremy sits).
Play wise, there are two detachable segments that can be removed to view the insides of the Submarine (and store both the accessories and The Fab Four). It's a pretty fun set to mess around with.
Overall, I spent around an hour and a half building this, so you're certainly not going to have A Hard Day's Night.
For some, the price of the set for what you get may seem too high, but if you're like me and both a LEGO and The Beatles fan, this is absolutely worth the cost.
So, I'm going to take care of this Eight Days a Week and look forward to, hopefully, more Fab Four sets because - as they say - Tomorrow Never Knows.

"It's all in the mind, y'know."Being both LEGO and Beatles fan, I was totally amazed when I first saw this project on Ideas website, so I'm glad it's finally released.
The set includes minifigures of the Fab Four and Jeremy Hillary Boob, Ph.D., and they look exactly the same as they were shown in an animated film in 1968. Each minifigure comes with an item shown in the ending scene of the movie: John has a periscope, Paul's got some love, George carries a submarine motor ("I think it burned my finger."), and of course Ringo gets half a hole to fix it and to stop his mind from wandering. Jeremy comes with a green apple, which symbolizes Apple Corps logo. The minifigure stand is a good addition to the set.
LEGO's interpretation of Yellow Submarine is groovy and it's shape really catches the eye. The interior is also well-designed and if you are a fan of the animated movie you'll see that all prints refer to special items and/or events from the actual film.
- amazing design of the Submarine
- no stickers
- a stand
- not a disadvantage, actually, but I would love to see guitars and drums for the band
A must-have set for every Beatles fan and anyone who likes colorful and unusual vehicles. Overall, I'm really happy to hold this set in my hands. Thank you, Kevin Szeto and Justin Ramsden!

Submarine check! Now where's my Octopus' Garden?I may not have been alive to see the rise of the Beatles, but their music has meant so much to me growing up. I thank my folks repeatedly for their musical influences on me.
I found this at my local Toys R Us on 10.31.16. Not only was it the first Halloween, in nearly a decade, when it wasn't rainy and cold, but I got off work and found this waiting for me at TRU.
This was an instant purchase and I had a $5.00 coupon to cover the tax pretty much.
This is a solid brick build with a fun/whimsical use of colors and printed tiles. The set comes in numbered bags 1-5. I'm so happy that there are NO Stickers in this set! Lego better be careful as soon I will expect all printed materials in their higher end collector sets.
This piece holds a lot of nostalgia for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the build. Both the base and the sub itself are very solid. There is just enough room for the figures and their accessories. The use of color throughout was spot on. I never thought of using hot dogs as railing pieces, but the look works. I always love finding new and interesting brick techniques in these sets.
This set can be played with or displayed. I would have no issue giving this sub to a 6-7-year-old to play with. The figure detail is great and I love the use of hair pieces here.
This piece is definitely for collectors, Beatles fans, and children alike.
Pros: Colorful pieces, solid build, highly detailed mini figures, display stand/base, high level of play value, nostalgia evoking, great conversation piece, appeals to many age groups, just looks cool

We all live in a Yellow Submarine...The ReviewThe box is something simply charming and finely detailed, with trippy palm trees, portraits of the band and Blue Meanies in the distinctive psychedelic visual style of the 1968 animated movie enriching both the inside and outside walls.
I am also delighted by how well studied the mix of yellow and bright light orange bricks, with numerous re-coloured parts (appearing in each color for the first time), are together with the decorated elements, which are printed (as one would expect from a premium product).
The Beatles’ psychedelic movie of an undersea voyage may be an unusual subject for a LEGO set, but the model is remarkably well designed and fun to both build and play with, and the minifigures look great.
In my humble opinion. I believe that this set will tap into a much broader audience than any other traditional LEGO themes, and getting more people to pick up a LEGO set for the first time is always a great thing.
All you need is Love, but if you’re a Beatles fan, you’ll want this too.
