"U Wings reinforce those troops on the beach!"Another great LEGO representation of a Rogue One starship! The U Wing has to be one of my favourite builds so far amongst the released LEGO Star Wars sets. The designers at LEGO have once again done themselves proud with this set, the build is great and only the engines and wings being a bit repetitive but this is only to be expected with a symmetrical design. Stickers are kept to a minimum with this set which is good and the spring loaded missiles are built in with the triggers well hidden in the ships forward deck.
A good set of mini figures with this set, Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor and Bistan being the figures that make this set unique.
Play features are good and the ship itself is sturdy, even those long wings when extended into the space flight configuration are strong enough. The sliding troop compartment doors fold back easily and sit nicely when open or closed. The cockpit opening function is nicely concealed and the ground facing cockpit is a nice feature although it would have been nice to be able to see it from the lower troop compartment as well.
My only gripe with this set, and it's a minor one, no landing gear. A very small gripe indeed considering the number of pieces per £ and considering that I got a deal at the store. That and it doesn't fit in my display cabinet!
Overall I like this set very much, well done LEGO.

UT-60D U-Wing!Awesome set, solid, functional, and goes great with the Tie Striker.
Personalized a bit more from the lack of fine details, kept me busy for a couple weeks! Little surprised on how many details Lego left out or actually changed not to match any of the ships....
The curved front fuselage, odd looking wedge plate front cows with the yellow grill plate sticking up like a pimple, the two piece looking cockpit (and it's a custom cockpit piece for this set?). Short wobbly engines, short front wings and then those upside down 4x4 dark gray wedge plates underneath on the front sides? All in all though, that is what keeps me addicted to Lego Star Wars models! The Legos just look great for depicting the ships!
Looking forward to an awesome USC set from Lego! Star Bricks, Mirko Soppelsa, has already done one that is a pretty decent looking replica and posted pictures on the web!

A beautiful setI am usually a fan of 'playset' sets with that 'complete' story feel, so to have a set with only one side (heroes and NO villains) usually I find something to critique BUT this is NOT the case.
The build here is fantastic and incredibly good fun that will keep kids amused for probably the best part of 3 hours...followed by hours of subsequent play time. It is relatively complex in places and might need the help of a parent (which is good for us!!) but overall it's a fantastic build.
The play features are strong here and the set definitely has that 'swooshability' that LEGO goes for. The collection of figures (which is a great collection I might add) really complements this set and offers genuine play value. Whilst, as mentioned above, this set doesn't have any antagonists as such, the set has a tremendous play and story value from the adventure prospective. And to be honest, I don't feel any villains would add much here anyway, other than being a token gesture.
As a collector, this set looks fantastic on display and feels a solid and complete set. As a parent, it offers hours of fun for the kids (both in build AND play) and does not require any additional set to make for some inspirational stories.
Overall this is one fantastic set that will appeal to collectors and kids alike.
Positives: The size, the build, the minifigures, the final piece and the 'swooshability!'
Negatives: This is a stretch at best but perhaps it would be better with a larger cargo bay, BUT given the space constraints and part count I couldn't really ask for anything else.

Not what I was expectingThis set, like the rest of the rogue one sets I have (don't have Krennic's shuttle yet, it wasn't in stock) far exceeded my expectations. These sets are much more to scale with mini figures than a lot of previous Star Wars sets. The U Wing here has some interesting techniques used to build some of the elements, and is much more structurally sound than some sets I've previously purchased. Firing missiles, good character selection, lots of pieces and a large ship itself makes me very satisfied with this purchase. The only thing I could possibly complain about is what is different about this set- the other sets contained both imperial and rebel figures, while this one only contains rebels. It would have been nice to have a storm trooper or two to fight
