TIE SilencerThis TIE Fighter is obviously inspired by Darth Vader's TIE Advanced and the TIE Interceptor. It's real name is the TIE Silencer and Kylo Ren is an expert pilot thanks to the skills passed down from his father.
The build is repetitive but that's the same for any TIE Fighter. However the techniques used are interesting and the finished model is very sturdy. Official images of this ship have been released and the movie accuracy appears very good. The scale of the model has been forsaken for detail - it is completely out of proportion with a Special Forces TIE fighter.
The minifigures are incredible! Kylo Ren comes with a new head-piece showing his scar and it's dual sided - angry or very angry. The new fabric cape resembles the new one he has in the film. However I preferred a metallic grey lightsaber hilt rather than a black one. The TIE pilot's helmet finally has red stripes which wasn't included in the Special Forces TIE. BB-9E is a new First Order astromech and printed with a lot of detail. FAN FACT: On set BB-9E was referred to as 'Bee Bee Hate'. The First Order Stormtrooper completes the selection nicely.
I think this is an amazing set and definitely one of the best from The Last Jedi range. It's price is quite high but it's still an amazing model. If you're going to start with one of The Last Jedi sets, then this is the one to start with.

Let the past.....fly!Kylo Rens personal fighter the TIE Silencer didn't have much screen time in the new movie but it leaves quite the impression. Sleek, nimble, powerful and intimidating looking this craft really exemplifies it's pilot, and this model does a great job of showing it off. Took about two hours building between me and my wife, engineering wise it's pretty impressive how the whole wing assembly is done, technic stud lengths through the body of the craft lend to a lot of stability even with the large wingspan. And large it most certainly is, dwarfing any other fighter class lego model I have, especially any previous TIE style ones [current ones being the Rebels TIE advanced prototype and the last stand alone Vaders TIE advanced], sporting a wide body and dagger like wing tips nearly double that. Colors fit Kylo's style of black, gray and highlights of red, detailed in all the right places with 'blaster' emitters at the tip of each wing and another in the gaps between the top and bottom wing ends. Has a good selection of minifigures too: of course coming with Kylor Ren, newly printed face to show the scar he'd received from Force Awakens, a First Order TIE pilot, First order Storm trooper [seems a lot of TIE sets have pilot and trooper together for some reason], and finally a semi minifig BB-9E so there is plenty of variety for play for younger builders. Overall just a really great set, good job Lego.

Kylo Ren's SilencerWhere to start with the Silencer? The build, wow, a very nice construction. The wings are attached securely and I don't think there is much on this TIE that is likely to fall off during play, even those long thin wings seem strong without being as thick as tree trunks. I like the stretched out and somewhat flattened cockpit and body that reminds you of Vader's TIE Advanced X1. The wings are definitely inspired by the TIE Interceptor and give this a sleek, fast and menacing look. Although the wings are a rather tedious repetative build the rest is rather good and to make it even better.
Mini figures make this set one of the best with the new Kylo Ren, Special Forces TIE pilot, First Order stormtrooper and BB-9E. Now if LEGO could make some more BB units (First Order or Resistance) they'd probably sell a few more sets. Hint, hint! We've got BB-8 and BB-9E but there must be some more out there in the SW universe?
Playability? Plenty of that here with a durable starfighter, the flick fire missiles (which in the past I've not been a fan of) are well embedded in the build and the triggers are nicely built in, something that LEGO is getting better at and I applaude LEGO for it, long may that continue.
Another good thing about this set, very few stickers, two I think.
A well designed set once more from LEGO, well done.

Striking display pieceA set that I Impulse bought on Ebay one night. This set surprised me in both its scale and how impressive it looks. The design of the ship is an instant classic, something between a tie interceptor (Please make another) and Vader's tie advanced x1.
This set was a joy to build, especially the core section of the ship and all the little detailing on the back.
The tie silencer is easy to grip from behind and includes two spring loaded dart launchers making it a good choice in terms of playability. With it's sleek tie profile and attention to detail, it is just as good for display purposes. A lot of the details on this model such as the red clear cockpit and exhaust as well as the features on the wings and the top of the craft make this an exceptional set visually.
I prefer to display mine next to the first order tie fighter on top of my PC. The acrylic stands are a little something I found on Ebay. Looking forward to getting more ties to add to the fleet.
