FIZZING WITH FUN DETAILS!I don't know much about Ninjago, though the film looks fun, but I just loved the look of this set. So much thought has gone into the store telling. A stack of 4 different city scenes, each worthy of a set on it's own. The level of detail is astounding. The front is beautiful, covered in quirky and cute little details, signage and neon elements giving the set a real crazy Tokyo City feel. The back of the set has also been thoroughly thought out, the AC vents, waste pipe, the sprout from the blossom trees that's grown through the building, really stunning design. Really clever use of bricks. I particularly like the black pan tiles. I also love the way the layers of the set show how a city evolves, the old town by the waters edge all the way up to the modern communications tower bristling with aerials and gizmos. Oh and I nearly forgot, a fully working Sushi conveyor restaurant on the roof top and crab grill on the first floor. The crabs turn out perfect each time. What's not to love? Everything about this set makes me smile. Pay attention though, I've ended up with what looks like way too many spare parts and some elements need stickers applied after the bricks are in place to make sure they sit the correct way. I got those wrong. Two sheets of stickers which I am not a fan of, but the graphic design of those alone is fantastic. Really adds another level of story telling to the set. Love it love it love it!

If you like details, This Is Your Set!I first saw this set on display when I was taking my younger brother to see our local LEGO store. I was blown away by its size and level of detail! I've had Grand Emporium for a while, and I though it was big, but it is blown away by this model.
I immediately bought the set, and foolishly assumed that I would be able to build it in under a day. I've been building LEGOS for 15 years, and have never spent more than one day on a set. This took me 2 and a half! At my house it looks even better than in the store.
I have never seen anything like this one. As far as level of detail, it is easily the #1 set I've ever seen. It tops all the modular buildings easily.
There are MANY dozens of details, nooks, paintings and perfect little touches. LEGO, absolutely NAILED the esthetic of this set. It really gives off the right vibe (if that makes sense).
One thing: I heard some people at the LEGO store complaining about the price of the set. But in reality, this set is a bargain! Standard fare for a set is around 10 cents per piece, give or take some. This is is nearly 5,000 pieces! LEGO could have gone up to $500 easily on this set. If you think about it, the price is really quite low for what you are getting.
It was an absolute pleasure to build this model. It is sets like this that demonstrate how one-of-a-kind LEGO really is. When I grow up, I'll be passing this one down to my kids for sure.

Absolutely Amazing SetMy children finally reached the age I am comfortable with them playing with small legos and not having to worry about them going in their mouths. After bringing down the crates of legos I had saved from my childhood the kids and I began building and creating anything and everything they could imagine. It really reminded me of how much I enjoyed legos as a kid.
When I took my son to the Lego store to pick out a new set for his birthday, the window display of Ninjago City completely caught my attention. The detail and architecture of the set is stunning. I debated internally as we looked around the store. My son and I built a few custom mini figures and he decided he wanted the green dragon mech from the Ninjago movie........so that pushed me over the edge. I bought Ninjago city for myself to build (though the kids helped quite a bit), and figured when I was done it would make a great set to play with for the kids.
After the build I am even more impressed than before, the excruciating details in every room are so unappreciated with the set all together. The kids have truly enjoyed playing with the set and it holds up pretty well from a playability aspect.
My only issue now is I want more Ninjago modulars. Something like a Ninjago downtown skyscraper or city center. Since the Ninjago city doesn't pair up well next to the other modulars it needs a companion piece!

A great Lego experience for all!I wanted this set as soon as I saw the photos. While a bit beyond my normal budget, I was able to purchase this set recently. First off, I must say that this set is worth every penny, in so many ways!
As stated by others, the piece to dollar ratio is fantastic.
Beyond that, the building experience itself is wonderful. My whole family as well as friends were able to truly enjoy this set. Each room or feature of the build was a small journey, as you may not be quite sure how it comes together until you finish the section.
The instructions are quite clear and very well organized, even for Lego.
The concept art within the booklets is a great addition. As an artist, I enjoyed seeing the thought processes of the designers and how they were implemented in the final product.
The play features are phenomenal! The way the sections come apart, the elevator, crab cooker, ATM, movie poster display...all of it. Every part of this set was so well thought out. Nothing is filler used to simply take up space.
Like most adult Lego fans, I’m not big on stickers. I can happily make an exception in this case as they go far in adding atmosphere to this already highly detailed model.
We’ve enjoyed building this set so much, we’ll be a little sad when the experience ends (only two bags left!)
If you are unsure whether to purchase this set, don’t be! I never thought I’d spend $300 on a single Lego set, but I am so pleased that i did!
