Rated 5 out of 5 by from A nice change for the modular series What a way to begin 2018! Got this beauty of a set first thing this morning and wow am I impressed! Just finished building it. I saw the first pictures of it online a month ago and I knew as soon as I saw it I had to have it.. having previously built the BrickBank and last year's assembly square I was a little concerned however at the style of this set, turns out that it is not such a major issue after all and it fits in with the existing modulars. The era now has gone into the 1950's somewhat and yes the minifigures have expressions on their faces now but I only see that as a good thing.. let's be honest, everything around us evolves all the time so why should the modulars be any different?? The design of the building itself is a work of genius! The creator (Mike Psiaki) has captured the look of a vintage 50's jukebox absolutely perfectly, it couldn't be any better than what it is.. the curves, the colours, the details.. the list is endless.. everything about this set just hits the right mark. I could go as far to say that this is as good if not better than the coveted Parisian Restaurant. However my favourite of all about it is placement.. the fact that there is a Gym upstairs where you go to get healthy and yet downstairs in the Diner they are serving fried bacon, pancakes and milkshakes etc.. that whole Lego modular comedy placement is there and I love it. Yet Another excellent set from Lego! Well done and bring on 2019's build now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic This is the first modular building I have ever purchased and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed building it. there's so many little details that just really make the building. And it has alot of play features that my daughter loves she couldn't wait for me to finish making it so we could start playing with. Over all a great build and a great building.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gimme 2 Adam and Eve’s and a moo juice! This particular modular building has a lot of great things going for it; the diner itself on the main floor was detailed, and fun to build. Wish they’d given a stud for a stack of pancakes on the table to attach. The gym above that was a simpler design, but still has enough detail to enjoy building this level, though it was a bit of a tight fit for some positioning/play. Again, I do wish they’d given a stud for the boxer to attach to on the actual boxing ring. The recording studio on the top was probably one of my favourite parts. The detail that went into making sure it was as accurate as possible is impressive. Some other nice details were the opening skylight, and the spiral staircase at the back. The pièce de résistance for me was the pink Caddy. I won’t lie, my wife may or may not have wanted this set just for the car. Overall, a great addition to any city, and a must have for any modular building fan. Like I said, just would have been nice to have some studded flats to attach certain things to.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ok, but not at the same level as previous sets. Have had this set for a few months. Here are my thoughts. In short, this is not one of my favorite modular sets. While I am glad TLG keeps moving to make the buildings unique, IMO this one does not fit in with the others. Also IMO I really just don't care for the colors or the overall look. That said, it was a fun build and glad the series is continuing. Was not very excited to see it was a Diner, already have a cafe in Assembly Square and a full restaurant in Parisian restaurant. Wish they would have kept with the original car dealership theme or something unique. So here's the skinny Pros Very detailed interior Nice boxing ring Building displayable from three sides Real faces on the mini figs Cons Only one boxer for the boxing ring (need a least two) Really does not fit in with the other buildings of the series Not sure the whole theme of a diner, gym and radio studio all in the same building works. Would like to see a future set that is more focused on one theme, like a Hospital, Car Dealership, Hotel, etc. Nice if the whole building had a common theme. While I would recommend this set, if you are not going to collect the whole series their are better sets still available. I would rate this set right in the middle compared to the previous releases. Not great, not horrible, just average for the theme. Additional: Here are a few thoughts I would like to see on a possible future modular release. Would be good additions to the series. Both would offer good play/display value. Hotel Floor 1, Check in Desk/ Lobby Floor 2, Few suites Floor 3, Swimming pool Needs an elevator Hospital Floor 1, Lobby, Emergency room Floor 2, Surgery, testing equipment room (MRI, Xray, etc) Floor 3, patent rooms, nurse station, etc. Roof, Helicopter pad
