A nice change for the modular seriesWhat a way to begin 2018! Got this beauty of a set first thing this morning and wow am I impressed! Just finished building it. I saw the first pictures of it online a month ago and I knew as soon as I saw it I had to have it.. having previously built the BrickBank and last year's assembly square I was a little concerned however at the style of this set, turns out that it is not such a major issue after all and it fits in with the existing modulars. The era now has gone into the 1950's somewhat and yes the minifigures have expressions on their faces now but I only see that as a good thing.. let's be honest, everything around us evolves all the time so why should the modulars be any different?? The design of the building itself is a work of genius! The creator (Mike Psiaki) has captured the look of a vintage 50's jukebox absolutely perfectly, it couldn't be any better than what it is.. the curves, the colours, the details.. the list is endless.. everything about this set just hits the right mark. I could go as far to say that this is as good if not better than the coveted Parisian Restaurant. However my favourite of all about it is placement.. the fact that there is a Gym upstairs where you go to get healthy and yet downstairs in the Diner they are serving fried bacon, pancakes and milkshakes etc.. that whole Lego modular comedy placement is there and I love it. Yet Another excellent set from Lego! Well done and bring on 2019's build now!

Gimme 2 Adam and Eve’s and a moo juice! This particular modular building has a lot of great things going for it; the diner itself on the main floor was detailed, and fun to build. Wish they’d given a stud for a stack of pancakes on the table to attach.
The gym above that was a simpler design, but still has enough detail to enjoy building this level, though it was a bit of a tight fit for some positioning/play. Again, I do wish they’d given a stud for the boxer to attach to on the actual boxing ring.
The recording studio on the top was probably one of my favourite parts. The detail that went into making sure it was as accurate as possible is impressive.
Some other nice details were the opening skylight, and the spiral staircase at the back.
The pièce de résistance for me was the pink Caddy. I won’t lie, my wife may or may not have wanted this set just for the car.
Overall, a great addition to any city, and a must have for any modular building fan. Like I said, just would have been nice to have some studded flats to attach certain things to.

Lego DinerI've just got the first two sets of bags assembled. I really like the Diner signage. Tile usage to make the sign uses techniques I've never seen before.
Read online where some don't like the use of non-traditional faces on the figures . . . Really? If that bothered me, I have a couple hundred old-style faces I could replace them with.
Overall this set is one of my favorites. I put it up there with the Detective's Office. It's whimsical and has lot's of interior detail.
Every year I look forward to getting the latest modular building. I've managed to get all of them and my Lego Town grows a little each year. It keeps a very old kid happy. Thanks Lego for keeping the modulars going!

Waited 4 months to buy...Good concept for a modular. However, color scheme doesn't fit with the other modulars. Its almost like Friends and Creator modulars decided to mix. Teal and pink don't fit. If the color scheme was better I would give it 5 bricks. Oh well...still waiting for a Post Office, Library etc...maybe someday!
