Rated 5 out of 5 by from "Heart of oak are our ships..." Destiny's Bounty has the appearance of an old gentle fisherman's boat. The lanterns, herbs and fish give it quite a misleading impression. However, this is very much a ship of battle. It may not carry any canons, but it has an enormous amount of weaponry on board: In the training room; In hidden compartments; Armour by the toilet and even Wu has a set of daggers and a giant sword by his bedside - I guess you can never be too safe. I think it's highly amusing that Lego supplies more than enough weaponry to conquer half of Indo-China, yet there's only one mug and teapot. Wu's bed and the Dragon heads are great designs. My favourite room is the 'Training room' if you can call it that. All the little details really make this ship stand out: letter, photo, red-tinted lanterns, exterior colours etc, It's marvelous to see this style of build expand into the ninjago theme, a quality that is usually familiar with the creator expert line. Overall it's a wonderful ship, enjoyable to build throughout. More like this would be much welcome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A special Lego set Prior to the release of TLNM I had only a passing interest in the Ninjago line as neither of my children ever spoke of it much. However, the closer we got to the movie release, we started getting caught up on all the episodes via Netflix. Once I saw the first wave of sets to accompany the movie I knew Lego had some special on their hands. Destiny's Bounty is something else here, with a very satisfying build that will leave you smiling as you work your way through every little detail. I felt bad for my wife as I was calling her over time and again to see some little feature (such as the bed or bathroom area). It must have been hard for her to distinguish between our children (8, 5, and now 3 month old) or her 37 year old child er, husband. I generally only have a little time each night to build, so I'm on the one bag per night plan so this took me longer than I would have liked, because as I was working my way through the hull and building up, it was not easy to put down and go to bed. I proudly display this piece on my mantle and have received more than a few complements from people in that time (house guests, handyman, furniture movers, etc). The purchase of this led to the acquisition of several more TLNM sets - Ninjago City and a few mechs. Already looking forward to summer sets, and now that I'm all caught up on back episodes, I'm ready for new season of the show as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A phenomenal and Fantastic Set for All Lego Fans I received this set as a Christmas gift and have just finished it over the weekend. I don’t really know what to say other than... WOW! This set is absolutely AMAZING! I’ve been building Lego for only a year but I love the creativity of these sets. There are so many little things that were delightful discoveries as I went along, like the bathroom with the little gold sink taps & toilet flush button. The bed is also an amazing piece! It might sound crazy to get all excited over a bed and bathroom but the detail just blows me away! I kind of hate to say it but, as much as I adore my Lego Creator Parisian Restaurant modular which has a similar piece count, this set was even more of a delight to build. The Parisian Restaurant was a bit more linear and straightforward as it’s a building. However, the curves, flourishes, and little details on the Ninjago Movie Destiny’s Bounty were a challenge which I greatly enjoyed. To put things in prospective a bit, I am visually impaired to the point that I cannot read print unless it’s enlarged. Even then it’s an inefficient, tedious process. However, the picture instructions Lego uses are fantastic and I always end up figuring them out in the end even if I have to take a break and come back later. I thank Lego for putting all their instructions online so I can download them to my iPad and view them as close up and zoom in and out as I need. With my eyesight, this set took me likely 20 or more hours to build, not counting breaks. I know I spent at least two full days from waking to sleeping on this. To put it in prospective, I worked on this set last Friday from about 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM with few breaks and that only got me through bags 8-12. Other sessions were in three or four hour blocks some afternoons and evenings between starting a new semester and getting into the routine of psychology and applied ethics coursework. I started the ship on January 1st or so and just finished it Saturday. I’ll say again, in the most emphatic way I can, IT WAS WORTH IT! Some people might have problems with the fact a bunch of plastic could cost so much money. However, I do not belong to that camp. This is something that can bring immeasurable enjoyment to kids and adults alike. Lego sets can be made in so many different ways. It’s better than spending $200 on some fancy toy for your kid that never changes and that goes out of style/becomes obsolete by next season. I see Lego bricks as timeless and clasic in a way that’s only achieved by a handful of toys. YOu can spend $160 eating out an expensive restaurant, a hotel room for a weekend getaway, or a day at the amusement park for a family if you’re lucky. You can’t even keep those outside of your memories and souvenirs you shell out more money for. Lego provides memories and is a tangible thing that lasts. That in mind this, and all other, lego sets I have purchased or received as gifts are ALWAYS worth the money. Thank you, Lego, for doing such great work and creating something beautiful that can so positively effect the lives of people of all ages. Sincerely, TS Note: I’ve attached a couple pictures of the completed product. My apologies if the angles are a bit funky as I took them myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Of My Most Favourite Sets Ever The Destiny’s Bounty is a phenomenal display piece, but still serves as a great playset. Everything about this set is great and here is all you get: Minifigs: The ninja: 9/10 The reason I put the ninja altogether is because they are all the same except for the colours on their suits, accessories and their face prints. The only thing bad about them is the lack of hair pieces for the ninja. It is great to see arm printing on some of them, and the accessories are great. Senseii Wu: 9/10 I think his face print has lots of expression and the cloth piece is well done. The only downside is the less detailed printing on the torso. The Bounty: 10/10 Wow! There is so much detail on this! Everything on this is great. The two dragon heads on the front are nice as they stand out with the sails, gold and silver detailing, and elegant woodwork. The deck is adorned with hanging lanterns, growing plants, containers and barrels, and even a teapot and teacup. The secret compartment for weapons is good for play. The steering area is partially open and partially closed, and is easy to access because of the opening roof. There are other details inside there. The dojo has an amazing looking floor and is filled with training equipment. The telescope deck at the back is spacious and provides more space for play. One the two rooms located inside is a bathroom. The toilet and sink are nice, but the show stealer here is the rack of accessories including Vermillion armour, and a pair of shurikens. But my favourite part is Wu’s bedroom. It has so much! Firstly, the bed is outstanding. You can pull up the covers and Senseii Wu can just slip in there. Oh my gosh! That is so awesome! There are a lot of other accessories in there, which include the hilt for the Sword of Souls, a Stone Warrior sword, an anacondrai helmet, the letter to Misako, a picture of the ninja, and Lord Garmadon’s helmet from the Underworld — all references and items from the show. Altogether, just an awesome build. Overall: 98% After all this explanation, do need to say further? This set is one of the best sets (in my opinion) that Lego has ever put out.
