Good set for those who may have missed...Firstly, as an adult collector, this set offers limited value (unless you missed the previous incarnation of the desert skiff). I already had two of the 2013 versions and set aside the Jabba's Sail Barge, this set didn't really bring anything 'fresh and new' to the scene.
That being said, (collector and display gripes aside) this is still a very worthy set. It is a fun little build (and slightly different from previous versions) and has very subtle differences; none of which make it a deal breaker.
However, returning to the target audience this is a GREAT SET. For parents, this is a worthwhile purchase. The build is simple enough for younger builders and will give them a decent amount of time absorbed in it.
Beyond the build itself, it DOES have a solid play value. I am always reviewing these sets from the 'play and imagination' value. This set DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. With Chewbacca, Han vs Boba Fett and the Guard, this set really does enable the young player to use their imagination in re-creating scenes and their own stories. I always look to see whether you would need another set in order to create a fun story; here you can do so with this set alone.
For the parent, this is a VERY worthwhile set to purchase.
Positives: Excellent balance of minifigures. Good Solid build. Provides fun and sparks imagination.
Negatives: Not really any in isolation, but many might consider this too much of a rehash. Although to be honest that's hardly a negative.

Good ValueThis set has a lot for $29.99. 4 great figures and accessories (especially Han's new hair piece), the skiff itself, and an OK Sarlacc.
I think the Sarlacc shouldn't have been that burnt orange color rather than the light brown/dark tan color they went with before. And I don't like that they based it off of the special edition version of the Sarlacc, with the beak and all. It should have been more of a pit, and they could have given us a play feature with that than the chomping beak.
I would have liked to see this with an extra minifig (maybe Luke or a Gamorrean guard) even if that means they bump the price to $34.99 or $39.99. But the minifigs they do include are awesome, Han with his new hair, the new Skiff guard, and Boba, with his new grey body (a more accurate color in my opinion). Chewy we've seen before, and is still a good fig.
The Skiff itself is the best they've given us to date. The colors and shaping is good, even though the front is more stubby compared to the last. I like the railings and the printed control piece. And we get an extending plank! What I mean by this is that it actually extends forward, rather than swing from the side on a hinge like the last model.
Price & value
Sarlacc design isn't very accurate
Would have liked an extra fig
I know the price would be higher if they fixed these cons, which is fair since this is already a good value. These complaints are pretty minor, this set is still a great choice!

Great little setThe desert skiff itself looks great – I love the railings, both the stiff and the bendable ones. The gangplank is retractable and has to exposed studs to stand a minifigure on. There's a hidden gun in the box on the deck, and a control station. There's some clear pieces included to raise the skiff a tiny bit.
The Sarlacc looks and works very well. It looks frightening even in Lego!
The minifigures are fantastic, as usual. I love Boba Fett, he's my favourite minifigure of all times and I appreciate that he looks slightly different to the Carbon Freezing Chamber, since his appearance did change between the two films.
- Great minifigures
- Very fun to build
- Looks fantastic
- Fun play features
- Should have included more clear pieces to lift the skiff higher
I'd recommend this set to any Star Wars Lego fans!

'I can see a lot better now!'There hasn't been a desert skiff since the last release of Jabba's sail barge and although the skiff itself has improved immensely I think the set is lacking overall.
The skiff's curves and angles have been recreated very well with an accurate colour scheme that goes well with the older sail barge. The use of transparent pieces underneath to make it appear hovering works nicely as it has done in previous sets. The retractable plank is an added bonus and is a feature that works smoothly, whilst adding a fun play element.
The sarlacc pit is a bit of a disappointment. The concept is great and the finished model is decent but the jaws only remain open when it's 'arm' is pulled upwards. I think the mechanism is quite constricting, especially from a display point of view. It would have been more fun if the 'arms' could have moved along with the mouth. Also the use of light grey bricks just don't work and detract from the sarlacc.
I think some more minifigures would have been fair. I think fans would prefer a disguised Lando or more of Jabba's guards. However that said this is the cheapest set at the moment in which you get Han with his new hair-piece that is far more scoundrel and roguish than the old one. Chewie is detailed and printed wonderfully. The weequay guard has excellent printing and his axe is an accurate weapon. Boba Fett is awesome with a minifigure based on his Return of the Jedi costume (which is very different from The Empire Strikes Back costume), with a green cape, and a different variation of colours on the armour.
All together this is a fun set but more minifigures would have been appreciated at this price point and the sarlacc pit isn't perfect. However if you want a new hairdo Han or an Episode VI Boba Fett then this is a must have!
