Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wonderful Set, but Beware the Model's Stand This is my first LEGO Set review, and let me say from the start - I love LEGO. I spend thousands of dollars a year on LEGO, and as I'm typing this, I'm getting ready to start on set 76108 (Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown). I collect and build a myriad of different sets, including just about every Star Wars set that has been released in the past 10 years, as well as the UCS Model's. This set was a fun build, but there was, in my opinion, a huge error made with this set. In an attempt to make this model appear like it was flying, LEGO made the base stand for this in such a way that the model appears to be rising and turning, and frankly, it was just not stable enough. After placing the completed model on my shelving, next to my numerous other UCS Model's (e.g., Slave 1, Tie Fighter, Red 5 X-wing and more), it sat there for several days until I heard a crash in the night. The model had fallen and broken to pieces. I was very disappointed. I'm contemplating buying another and modifying the stand to make it more stable. In fact, I just finished the new UCS Y-Wing this week and used a few spare pieces to prevent the slant on that model out of the same fear. I'd ask the designers to make the stands more stable on these "tilted" models. Long story short, it's a great model but just be very careful about how you display it, as it is very unstable on its stand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hoth revisisted in UCS. PROS: Probably the most accurate UCS build to date. They really went all out making the details match the source and considering that the Snowspeeder has had 15 various releases they seem to have culminated in this one. The details really work and the build was clever and challenging. The parts are great with lots of unique and rare pieces they provide details with a minimum of decorated elements. Very satisfying to assemble. EXCELLENT display quality. Wonderful inside details including controls and seating gear. It even has a rotating grapple gun that respond to the cockpit controls. CONS: UCS sets shouldn't have stickers...for the price these elements should really be printed. This set is also NOT swooshable as any attempt to play with it will result in something falling apart. That is a small thing as it is designed for adults to display but my nephew who is 8 seemed to think it was a flaw. :) The price is slightly too high for the part count...something that seems to be a theme in the recent UCS sets. MIXED: The inclusion of some exclusive figures has me debating myself. The figures are nice but they seem out of place in a non-figure scale set. They don't look good on display with the set but are welcome additions to the rebel army...overall they felt like an attempt to get figure scale people to but the set rather than an actual contribution to the set.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Challenging build I have recently found my affinity for building Legos and have built other UCS sets -Slave I -Tie Fighter -Sandcrawler Overall, the Snowspeeder is a good build and the finished product looks exceptional, but I do have a few complaints: 1. The front end is EXTREMELY fragile...I had to rebuild it twice when I was working on the back end and it fell apart bc there are very few places to hold it firmly once the wings are on. It def needs to be beefed up. 2. The little silver "grill" pieces on the underside would not stay on bc the ship really can only be held by the back end and the slightest rub would pop them of, it's hard to get them back on once the wings are attached w/out the risk of damaging something else. 3. The stand is a bit suspect bc of the weight of the ship, it tends to lean a bit perilously so I had to add some support. 4. Speaking of the stand, with the ship mounted sideways as pictured and slanted forward, it is very difficult to see the minifigs and info placard. That is a big draw of the UCS builds...almosr like the stand was an afterthought. Overall, the build was enjoyable, but it was also VERY frustrating at times. The "playability" factor is virtually nil as this is truly a display piece.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great but may be impractical to play with This is a review for the UCS T-47 Snow Speeder. First of all I have to say that Lego does a great job of making this set look very much like the real deal from the movie. The experience building the set was straight forward but being symmetrical you kinda feel like once you get into building each wing that you have done it all before. It took 6 hrs to build which was fair enough for the amount of pieces and detail of this set. The price is similar to other UCS sets released in the last few years. Price is high so this should be more for the collectors than a set for kids to play with. The only thing that really disappoints is how flimsy sections of this model really are. The big question is where to pic up this model without destroying something is paramount. You cant grab this by the front/nose of this speeder or it will break away. It is only held to the rest of the model by two ball and socket joints and 8 studs. There is not enough reinforcing to make this more robust. I can see the need for this design as the angles of this ship are not convenient for Lego parts. The second area that I dare not touch are the radiator fins. The left and right sections of the fins are only held in place by 2 pegs each. For greater accuracy I can see why this was done but the pegs are the style that you use for helicopter blades (peg onto a four stud base). Two of these do not hold the fins in place if you decided to pick up your model from the rear. So you will have a frustrating time handling this model from the front or the back. Otherwise it is a good looking Lego set but this is more of a build and leave alone set. Definitely do not let the kids handle this. It will not be their fault if it breaks as I stated that parts of this model are flimsy. Anyways this model sits next to my UCS Tie Fighter.
