    One For The Sales

Let's just get the main point out of the way. The price is insane, I only bought this set because through VIP points and an offer (new site), I had £20 off which took it from wildly overpriced (10p a brick average (which incase you are from the USA, is more than your often cited 10cents a brick average which personally is a little ambitious for Non-LEGO owned properties (E.g. Star Wars)). I understand that unlike most sets, a lot of the bricks in this set are larger bricks, but £85 for a 650ish brick set is extreme even for the number of large parts included. Pros: -Watto is pretty much exclusive to this set (I think he was in a Pod Racer set a few years ago) and is a very nicely printed addition to the collection. -The design on the ship itself is good, but also nice and simple to build (retract the landing gear, it will make building easier). -Stickers are minimal, with a grand total of 6 (2 of which are inside the cockpit on a brick I've never seen printed). Cons: -Price. -Maul's face is a little on the goofy side, and because he doesn't have a headpiece that covers the back, he doesn't have the dual face, which means the goofy grin is the only face you get. Not too bad, but it could've been toned down a little. Overall, a decent set that looks good in the collection, but too pricey to consider when not in a sale and/or using VIP points.

    Not the best at all...
    Purchased for: Self
First of all, This set is an unnecessary purchase.... We just got this back in 2011 and that was slightly smaller and this is too much for this build... Qui Gon Jinn - 3.0/10 - Face is newer than 2014 and is decent, Everything else is the same and the "Endor Leia" poncho in Dark Tan is exclusive to him. Anakin Skywalker - 5.5/10 - Same as June`s Naboo Starfighter Anakin and have had numerous remakes of him since 1999. Watto - 0.5/10 - EXACT SAME as 2011`s Podracer. R2-D2 - 7.5/10 - Same as last year and actually the best minifigure of the set... Best designed R2 to date but just wish the dark blue line on the dome was straight and could have had "leg" side printing with Dark Blue and Grey. Darth Maul - 2.5/10 - Why is he laughing? I get what they went for but I would have preferred a more "serious" look... Still waiting on a new mould for the lightsaber to be almost double the length of the standard as it would be great for Maul and the Inquisitor has his own hilt... The Set - 2.5/10 - No need for another one this year although it went with the other 2015/14 TPM sets... It has great techniques for continuing a "pattern" on the top before the hatch with the Speeder and Probes pop up. Overall, 4.5/10. Spend £79.99 on the Force Awakens First Order Transporter - 75103 which comes with 2 First Order Stormtroopers, 2 First Order Flametroopers, Captain Phasma & 2 Resistance Troopers... ~ Taylor.

We would first like to thank you for the review. Our designers always like to redesign our older sets to improve them for our fans and consumers. As for the minifigures we many times like to use the same minifigure for a set with minimal changes, unless it is warranted. We will give this feedback to our designers, hearing what our fans have to say only makes us a better company. Thank you again for your review

    Don't understand the negativity

I would recommend this to a friend!
    Purchased for: Self
Like most others, I was put from buying this set initially due to the low piece count, and repeated minifigures. After I built it, I realized others are not exactly making a fair judgement. This is a fantastic set, and it as long as the Republic gunship. I will first dispute the initial claims reused figures: The figures make sense for this set. When Darth Maul landed with the Sith Infitrator, there were not many characters around. That goes the same for when he attacked. 5 is a good amount and all make sense. Only R2 is the only figure here found in cheap sets. Watto was found in an expensive set four years ago, and I believed they upgraded the material. Qui-Gon Jinn was found in the expensive MTT, but he now has a new face, and poncho. Anakin is found in the Naboo Starfighter, which is still a bit of money. Darth Maul looks silly: This version well represents Maul. If you watched the season 2 finale of Star Wars Rebels, the facial expression for Maul here is spot on. The torso detail is major improvement as well. low piece count: During the build, you will realize a lot of parts are blocks, not technic pins or plates. The overall size of the model is where it should be, and the weight of the box will prove that. better sets out there: I have a habit of collecting ever wave of LEGO Star Wars. I have the Imperial Shuttle, Republic gunship, Assault Carrier, and so on. This set commands its presence because of its striking design and size. The size is comparable to others sets at this price. If you want a length comparison, the set is the republic gunship's length. another one?. It is not a good idea to collect too many remakes. There are many other options out there. But this one is far from a clone from the others. The underside is fulfilled, and only portions of the front open rather than the whole thing. There are so many improvements from the 2011 one, and a simple image comparison will prove that. Finally, 4 years is healthy gap between releases, and many people missed out on the last one. If you already have a previous iteration, you don't have to buy this one, but someone else may want to. expensive: Yes, this set is expensive, but so are other things in life. If you intend on collecting things, you will have to spend a lot of money. If you are on tight budget, don't make your decisions lightly. With the Force Awakens, the prequel trilogy has took a back seat in people's mind. That is fine. If you are concerned about new figures, stick to only the Force Awakens sets because figures in the majority of episode 1-6, and Rebel sets are repeats. If you only want something iconic, stick to Original Trilogy sets. But if you want a good-looking, highly playable, sturdy ship that is reminiscent of a fighter, this set will impress you just like it impressed me. If you are building this set, take your time, and don't accidentally skip steps . Rushing steps can leave a model that is irreversible to be taken apart.

Really cool set, a tad overpriced though

This is one of my favorite sets I bought last year. For the "normal" price, this is overpriced, but I got this on a sale at Toys R Us which made it much more reasonable. That aside, I absolutely love this set. Maul is one of my favorite characters so owning this ship is a true joy.
