Rated 5 out of 5 by from The old school Tie Tongue-tied to find better words to describe this beautiful model. Sleek, strong, swish-able, stable, this model hits the sweet spot between gorgeous display model and tough playset. I guess you could say that it’s ruggedly handsome. Enjoyable to build, you’re taken through a playful angular juggle as you construct the cockpit around various angles. Assembling the twin bow-tie solar arrays are also enjoyable for a first-time experience whilst not becoming tedious to reproduce on the other side. They attach with a satisfying click and you’re good to go! Inserting the pilot is much easier to do than previous Tie variations as the cockpit opens from the front and top. Also, the clip on the steering yoke holds the pilot in much more securely than previous models. You can feel your enthusiasm mounting just like a trainee pilot fresh out of the imperial academy. Off you go and the first thing you notice is how well balanced the model is. Tie’s were meant to be light and manoeuvrable and this model holds up to the specifications. You can fly this eyeball with one hand tied behind your back; spinning is an ease and the ship makes a pleasing silhouette and framing when flown. The model sits very securely on its wings and is easily able to navigate being perched up high on wobbly shelves. I found the first order tie rather bulky compared to this slightly lighter version. The classic black colour scheme makes the wings feel less bulky. Lego have done a great job in bringing out many of the classical design elements of a 40-year-old spaceship design. I found the price a bit steep, but on a slight store discount you’ll get great satisfaction for your purchase. This one will stay out on display so even though the box might not contain a trove of parts or volume to the model itself, this tie is a definite keeper. Get it, it’s great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from IMPERIAL TIE FIGHTER!!! This is my first TIE fighter, and I was super excited to get it when it released a week ago. The minifigures are great, although there's nothing to compare them to until the Solo movie releases. Either way, the TIE pilot's printing is phenomenal, compared to the 2010 version that I had before. The Mimban stormtrooper is nice as well, although the helmet is a duller gray than LEGO usually uses, giving it the impression of being fake LEGO. Fortunately that's not the case, and the minifigures - especially those awesome capes - are exceptionally detailed. (furthermore, a change of Han Solo's face and you have an incredible looking Mimban AT-ST driver!!) As for the TIE itself, there's not enough good to be said about this model. The wings are incredibly sturdy - not like the old Darth Vader's TIE Advanced from 2009 - and have great detailing, going so far as to incorporate roller skates onto the wing! The TIE pilot is very secure in the cockpit due to a 1x1 clip, and the cockpit view screen is very nice as well, and is also seen on Yoda's Starfighter as well as a couple other TIE variants. The color scheme is spot-on as well, although I'd like a little more black around the cockpit area. When building the wing struts, I was amazed at how I was building on all four sides, not just up and down. The new odd pointy-pieces on the wing struts add a tapering effect to the cockpit I really enjoy. The cockpit itself is very nicely rounded out. I'm also very glad that there are NO STICKERS in this set, a huge bonus! It is also very sturdy and will not tip over or collapse at all. My only complaints is that, when carrying the TIE, the printed dish on top twists, throwing the alignment of the details off, but not a huge deal. The bigger deal is that, although my hands are huge, I feel like most people would have trouble (as I did) holding the fighter and reaching in between the wings to fire the lasers. It's a tight fit for me, and when I do manage to squeeze off a shot my alignment with my target is usually messed up by then. Other than that, amazing set that I'd buy a few more of if I had the money and space to display them! (space pun not intended) Overall...: Price: 18/20 Pieces: 20/20 Minifigures: 20/20 Size/Durability: 19/20 Weight: 20/20 Total: 97/100 Totally worth it!!! :D

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome!!! First standard Imperial TIE fighter released for a while and what a beauty! It's a really solid build where you don't feel the wings are going to drop off. Design makes clever use of several differant sloping pieces to make up the round shape of the cockpit. On top of awesome the build the minifigs are excellent. Great characters from the new Solo: A Star Wars Story movie with amazing prints which will give younger uses many hours of fun. The only downsize is the price which is slightly higher than I would expect for the piece count but then the Star Wars licence doesn't come cheap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from tie fighter if you are wondering if this is a normal original trilogy tie even though its from the new movie, it is. it is a little overpriced in my opinion, but a very accurate model. the funny angled pieces look a little sharp. finally, the shooters look good without customization, from the front at least. this set required no customization to meet my strict movie accuracy wants. the tie pilot is original trilogy accurate too. I am not super stoked about the other three minifigs because I haven't seen the movie yet, but they do look cool. go and get it!
