Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Rebellion Is Reborn This new X-Wing starfighter, the first that I have built, is an amazing build! The mechanism for changing the wing position is almost flawless, and a new Biggs minifigure (last one since 1999), is a great addition! The swappable Red-5/Red-3 stickers are good for variety. The fighter, though the size may be a bit off, works well with the Solo Imperial TIE Fighter. The new helmets, dual molded with a trans-orange visor, is a good attempt, but I still prefer the visor printed on the minfigure's face. Granted, this is the first version of a dual-molded rebel pilot helmet (not Resistance), so I'm sure the design will be improved upon in a future set. My one complaint is how the engine booters on the back tend to fall off easily if handled improperly. But, as a display piece, I think it looks FAR superior to the last Death Star trench run X-wing, and is definitely worth the money. (My apologize for the upside down images. Goodness knows what happened there.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally A New X-Wing! It seems like an eternity since 2012 when the last traditional X-Wing starfighter was released. Now we have a new one! At first glance this ship almost seems like a downgrade, having abandoned the same engine and cockpit pieces that were used for generation after generation of X-wings. However, I believe the change was worth it. The ship is a good size, not oversized but still well scaled to the TIE fighter released earlier this year. The figures are very good, with new helmet molds that look giant but I think will pay off once we get used to them. Biggs Darklighter hasn't appeared in forever, so it's great to get a new version of him, although I do feel like they could have done more with his alternate face printing, being that his story didn't have a happy ending. R2-D2 is the same he's been for the last 4-5 years, which is fine. R2-Q2 was a surprise inclusion, since the last time we saw him in 2011 he was an Imperial droid. Anyway, I do prefer the original version, because this one looks a bit odd with gun-metal-gray legs but not torso...a little odd. Anyway, the ship is fantastic. The cockpit is very cramped, giving just enough room for a pilot and pistol to fit in. The droid is very snug, despite sitting on one 1x2 jumper plate only. The function to move the wings into attack formation works great, although I do think I'll take off the "deactivator" on the bottom, which is a Technic piece that automatically releases the wings back into flight mode. The guns are pretty good, although I wouldn't mind them being a tad longer. The stud shooters as proton torpedoes are a bit disappointing, and I'd rather just have the telescope and cherry pieces again, like the 2012 version. The unique color scheme making it look old and run down is fantastic, really making this look like a Rebellion vehicle. The engines are great, although the engines weren't as pink as they were red in the movies - but I do admit that red cones on the back don't look as good as the pink ones do. The engines are very large, but I think they're justified - maybe they just look that way after seeing the sleeker Resistance X-wings for so long. Overall, I'm super glad I got this set and it is totally worth the $80 price tag - be sure to pick this up for yourself!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent set but..! Pics include extra parts reqd This is such a truly great rendition of the X-Wing but in my opinion it has two crucial flaws, the cannons on the wings and the engines on the back are too short. With a little look through Pick-a-Brick, with just a few additional parts (shown), you can transform the wing cannons and engines to how I've modified it! It is a great set either way for sure, enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must buy! I own every X-wing ever released. This so far is the most accurate to the original trilogy besides the UCS ones. I moved the lever for the wings to the bottom between the landing gear and it works exactly the same. I was then able to add greebling detail to the top area in the empty space. I changed the small laser cannons to the previous model from 2012. I changed the tan lever handle to a dark grey one. I changed the buckets on the engine with wheel rims. Love this model now!
