Wait for a saleI got this as a gift because I had mentioned how excited for this set I was. I still am to an extent. However, upon closer inspection I have to agree with my reservations when I found out the price.
The figures are amazingly detailed. I love the arm printing and dual molds in any set. It really adds to the quality and accuracy. In addition, I appreciate that Lego decided to include Rinzler and Quorra as figures. Rinzler has to be one of the best sci-fi figs I have seen.
The builds are duplicated so there is a bit of repetition. However I don't hold that against lego because that is how the vehicles are in the movie. Anything else would have been inaccurate. The build itself is very complex and offers some techniques that used to be considered "illegal." These are fun and teach new ways common lego bricks can be used. Kudos for that.
The stand is just gravy. It really adds to the display ability and immersion into the world. Plus it gives the seeds for expanding the Grid.
I love the build, figures and stand. Yet I am still annoyed at this set. There is no reason that I know of besides the 'Disney tax' for this set to be $35 dollars. This is at least ten dollars over what it should be. I do not have that kind of income to flippantly drop an extra ten dollars on a $20-25 dollar set.
Amazing set, but please wait for it to go on sale to a more reasonable price. My gf knew I liked it and I appreciate that, but that price just sits bitterly in my mouth.

"I'm not a program!"My 6 year old has been waiting for this set for a very long time. In fact, he wanted a tron lego set (and was convinced a set existed) as BrickBrosUK submitted their idea.
After driving into Milton Keynes early this morning to get one (anticipating queues), he has enjoyed the build whilst listening to the soundtrack and although BBUK did a great job on the initial design, Lego have really done well with the accuracy and details.
I think it would have been "cooler" with black handle bars and the other grey piece in black, along with the bottom 1 x 8 plate in a translucent blue instead, but overall this is a great little set that should have been made 7 years ago (although my son would have missed out).
Price wise, I think it's a tad expensive for 230 pieces, and goes beyond the average kids pocket money allowances. I'd say it's more of a £20 set, he has used some of his birthday money and I have subsidised part of it but I recommend holding back for a sale - Unless of course you've been waiting 18 months for this too!

It is a cute set, Transparent bricksadd a lotI was looking forward to this one, so when it came out I ran to the Lego store and picked it up. The set is well designed, but the playability just isn't there for me. The way it is set up, the moulding pops off with little effort.
I love the way the minifigs fit into the cycles to look like they are merged into the cycle like in the movies.
The trails of the cycles are a very good idea. It will look better once I put a couple of LED lights into it to make them truly light up like light cycles.
The display is nice, and the cycles are pretty, the trails need to wrap around and extend. But that is an unfair call on my part.
I look forward to getting more time to play with them.

What you see is what you get.Overall, a fairly simple set. The Ideas team really did a great job interpreting TheBrickBrosUK Ideas submission to create a nice display and even play set. While I would've gladly payed 20 or 30 USD for the original submission, I do like the retail set better. That said, at 35 USD, this set is a bit over priced for the amount of parts received.
Also, a little spoiler...both cycles are identical builds, with the exception of color. While I built them individually, it's possible to build them together like any other identical builds.
-Great looking set for display and even playable.
-Excellent minifigs. All three are stunning and will probably only be available in this set unless the Lego Group and Disney decide to sell more Tron sets. Tbh, they are probably the best part of the set. Pictures do not do them justice.
-Well executed set created from an great Lego Idea's submission. Thanks, BBUK and Lego.
-At $35, the set is over priced. Would recommend waiting for a sale if you're on the fence.
-Only nitpicky compliant is there's a little bit of a grey that doesn't fit in the main body of the light cycle. Wish the 2x4 Technic brick was available in black, but unfortunately Lego decided not to release it in a new color for the part.
Excellent set for $20...maybe $25 because of the minifigs. At 35, not so much. If this set isn't a must have, I recommend waiting for a sale.
