This tool makes it a snap to pull those small plates apart.

Brick Separator is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 172.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The thing you always wanted, but didn't know... The Brick Separator does exactly what it's meant to do, it separates bricks! You can separate bricks from the top or underneath at one end whilst the other end is useful when it's not quite possible to separate them otherwise. No more teeth marks, broken pieces or injuries, this is easy to use for any age and should be an essential tool for all fans of Lego, particularly those who like to take their creations apart often. As others have said, these are available in some sets, so rather than purchase it directly, I'd buy it with one of them (that's what I did - I stumbled on to this little tool and was pleasantly surprised at how efficient it is)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful But Don't Buy it Separately I'll say this tool is absolutely 100% useful and every builder of LEGO needs this in their collection. This tool really helps with separating pieces that are really stuck together especially those new fresh pieces that come out of the bags and love to stick together. This tool's great for separating your tiles stuck on your plates by using the sharp edge but not too sharp, separating your plates stuck together, getting your Technic pins and axles out of the Technic holes in Technic bricks, and last but not least separating your big bricks like 2x4s. I will have to say there is one thing that I can't say good about this tool is that it's pricey. Sure it's one medium-big piece but you get this in sets that are usually $20-$30 or more so why spend 2.50 on this when you could just buy this in a large set like the Parisian Restaurant? This tool is great but don't buy it separately.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Do Not Buy As Stand Alone Vast improvement on the old one that came out when I was a kid. And I love how it works with Technic type pieces as well. But not worth the money to buy one. They are coming packaged with so many sets at the moment you're better off just getting one that way. I ended up with so many I was giving them away. In short get your hands on one, but just get a cool set that comes with it already. Because every Lego fan would really want more Legos to use it on.
