Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dollar for Dollar Most Disappointing Lego Set Ever I am going to leave my review short as this set isn't worthy of any review. I was originally very excited for this set to some out, but I am now very disappointed. For the price it isn't worth it. If I had paid maybe $150-200 for this set I wouldn't have had as many issues, but I expected a good high quality UCS set with the price I paid. Main issues: -The Ion Canon is incomplete. You may think that you are getting a whole Ion Canon, but don't be deceived, you actually get about 3/4 of the Canon and the back part is missing with a bunch of pieces showing, doesn't look very good. -The inside of the Gate looks terrible. Unlike the previous gate that was released years ago, the inside of this one is a mix of different colored plates, and doesn't look anything like a gate from the inside. -Set is to small for the amount you are going to pay. You can tell by piece count that it isn't going to be very large, but it was even smaller than I expected. For anyone who has any other Hoth sets, it isn't worth it because you will get a lot of duplicates. Including a Han Solo that comes in the $25 Hoth set. One positive: It has okay play value, so if you are buying this for a child they might appreciate it more than your adult collectors. Overall: Very poor effort by Lego. Set looks okay from the front, but when viewing from behind it looks pretty terrible. Set looks unfinished. When you are done building it will feel incomplete.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fun and iconic elements, but not complete I'll start with the positives, the base door is cool, the command center inside is nice. The minifigs are fun. It's great to have a power generator and the Ion Blast Cannon. But the big issue with this set is how incomplete it is. I'm not talking about missing things like AT-ATs, more imperials, etc, I'm talking about incomplete builds. The power generator is the worst culprit. There should be 4 of those disk things, Lego only made three. There are multiple spots to put the gun towers, but the set only comes with two. Sure you can buy Hoth Attach and get another, but this set should have come with 4. The back of the Ion Cannon is not finished, so it looks pretty bad from the back. The Wampa cave is just a doorway, you can't even fit Luke and the Wampa in it together. No Princess Leia was an amazingly bad oversight. She is crucial to this set. Now if you are like me and have a lot of the other Hoth themed sets, it was a very fun project to integrate them all together like I did. I purchased lots of extra snowtroopers to make it actually look like an Assault on Hoth. I've added a few pics to show what you can do with the set if you have some other Hoth themed stuff and the patience to expand what Lego started with (which is the point of Lego sometimes).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT a UCS-caliber set! While I appreciate that I was given this set as a gift, it was not what I was expecting. I have nearly all of the UCS sets on display and I just cannot put this one out along with the others. This set can only be displayed from the front angle in order to disguise the unfinished rear-side of the hanger doors. The play-value is identical to the existing Hoth sets which I already own. The addition of the hanger door is unimportant as well as the Ion Cannon and Shield Generator which I could have built better versions of with existing scrap pieces lying around the house. Here's what I WOULD have expected of a UCS Hoth set: 1.) The hanger doors would need to be nearly 2x the size of the ones in this set and fully finished on the back. 2.) The Ion Cannon would also be 2x or more the size it is currently and mounted on a snowy outcropping, potentially as part of a mountain-face the hanger door would reside. 3.) The Shield Generator would be at the far end of the infantry trench, opposing the Ion Cannon, with full build plating under all elements. 4.) The "cherry" on such a set would have a rebel transport ship make its debut. All combined, I'd imagine a set of 3K-4K+ pieces. Don't buy this set. Is just a combination of existing Hoth battle elements which have been previously released. -Disappointed

Rated 1 out of 5 by from `Ugly, Incomplete, Not UCS quality This set is a poor excuse for a UCS LEGO product: 1. The cave is just a door, with nothing on the other side but a bunch of discolored ugly pieces. 2. All of the individual elements are too small, and the disconnected nature of them further impairs the quality and look of the set. 3. Leia must be included in this set, and there should have been some sort of empire craft or even just some minifigs. This set is not playable because it lacks an enemy making an "assault". 4. The price is too high -- the Slave I is a far superior set and is $50 less. 5. This set does take awhile to complete, but the degree of difficulty is far too easy for UCS -- a 7 or 8 year old could easily put this together given the proper amount of time. DO NOT BUY THIS SET!
