Challenging buildI have recently found my affinity for building Legos and have built other UCS sets
Overall, the Snowspeeder is a good build and the finished product looks exceptional, but I do have a few complaints:
1. The front end is EXTREMELY fragile...I had to rebuild it twice when I was working on the back end and it fell apart bc there are very few places to hold it firmly once the wings are on. It def needs to be beefed up.
2. The little silver "grill" pieces on the underside would not stay on bc the ship really can only be held by the back end and the slightest rub would pop them of, it's hard to get them back on once the wings are attached w/out the risk of damaging something else.
3. The stand is a bit suspect bc of the weight of the ship, it tends to lean a bit perilously so I had to add some support.
4. Speaking of the stand, with the ship mounted sideways as pictured and slanted forward, it is very difficult to see the minifigs and info placard. That is a big draw of the UCS builds...almosr like the stand was an afterthought.
Overall, the build was enjoyable, but it was also VERY frustrating at times. The "playability" factor is virtually nil as this is truly a display piece.

Looks great but may be impractical to play withThis is a review for the UCS T-47 Snow Speeder.
First of all I have to say that Lego does a great job of making this set look very much like the real deal from the movie. The experience building the set was straight forward but being symmetrical you kinda feel like once you get into building each wing that you have done it all before. It took 6 hrs to build which was fair enough for the amount of pieces and detail of this set. The price is similar to other UCS sets released in the last few years. Price is high so this should be more for the collectors than a set for kids to play with.
The only thing that really disappoints is how flimsy sections of this model really are. The big question is where to pic up this model without destroying something is paramount. You cant grab this by the front/nose of this speeder or it will break away. It is only held to the rest of the model by two ball and socket joints and 8 studs. There is not enough reinforcing to make this more robust. I can see the need for this design as the angles of this ship are not convenient for Lego parts.
The second area that I dare not touch are the radiator fins. The left and right sections of the fins are only held in place by 2 pegs each. For greater accuracy I can see why this was done but the pegs are the style that you use for helicopter blades (peg onto a four stud base). Two of these do not hold the fins in place if you decided to pick up your model from the rear. So you will have a frustrating time handling this model from the front or the back.
Otherwise it is a good looking Lego set but this is more of a build and leave alone set. Definitely do not let the kids handle this. It will not be their fault if it breaks as I stated that parts of this model are flimsy.
Anyways this model sits next to my UCS Tie Fighter.

A Bit of a DisappointmentFirst off let me say that it is a beautiful set when finished. You just can't touch it for fear of pieces falling off, so it is a set for display purposes only with little or no play value.
Like most of the UCS set's it is a hard build, but unlike other UCS sets the end result is incredibly flimsy, with numerous pieces prone to falling off whilst placing it on the stand. The underside of the wings are held in place with very small elastic bands which will go brittle and snap over time. The front is attached by means of 2 ball and socket joints, which themselves are flimsily attached meaning the slightest touch can cause it to fall off.
I have also found a problem with the engine housing on both wings as there is a blank white tile which should sit flush with the surrounding tiles but it just won't fit, no matter what I've tried.
Overall, I'd say that, like the recent Star Wars film, the expectation outweighed the experience.

Good buildI really enjoyed this build, the numbered bags are still a bit alien to me from the Technic sets of the 90's when I was a kid, I am still getting use to this new way with the new sets having only got my addiction to Lego back in the last year or so.
the numbered bag system does make it more organised as you are often dealing with a much smaller group of parts, than the old sets where you just had everything and had to spend time pre organising your bits.
but this is one of the biggest new sets I've built since coming back to Lego, as I am a bit past the age of playing with the models I am more onto display and the enjoyment of the build.
I really enjoyed the build of this model, the use of newer pieces to get the angles and shapes is good and it feels fairly solid, even the stand is quite good to build, it lasted a good length of time on the build so kept me entertained for a while.
as for the display I really liked the idea that the stand could tilt, meaning the speeder could either sit perfectly straight, or it could be pushed slightly forward to give a more top down view on the model, it is a nice touch that helps improve the places you can display the model for display. it is also nice to have the information plate, my only disappointment there is the plate is a sticker, I would have much rathered it be a printed plate, but this seems to be the standard across all the models with these info plates.
all in all I would say I enjoyed the build, it felt like it took a good length of time to build and the end model is a nice addition to any Lego/Star Wars display.
