Amazing Set, but...Wow! What an amazing set! It was challenging to put some parts on, but the finished product looks amazing. I love the flags and the flip-out speakers. The speakers flip out really smoothly and same for flipping back in. And the wheel is massive.
The minifigures are all good except one. Yep, you guessed it, Misako.
I've seen other reviews and a lot talk about how the face is greenish. I bought the set anyway because the rest of it was nice. But it's true, Misako's face looks like she just got off the Destiny's Bounty. In other words, she looks seasick.
But other than that, the playability is great.
I also don't like it that it relys on stickers for looks. I wish all the stickers were instead printed on. I understand that that would be a lot of work for LEGO, though.
That just about wraps things up, and I'll say this:
LEGO, you did great with this mech!

Best Mech so FarLet me just say that this is probably one of my favorite sets (next to the Rock Roader and Morro's Dragon). If you are thinking of buying a nice big set for yourself and you are a Cole fan (or a fan of awesome stuff) then you should buy this! I'll break down the set and get all of the details covered so you can decide if you want the set or not.
First I'll talk about the minifigures. The set comes with 5 minifigures; Lady Iron Dragon, Cole, Fred Finley, and two Shark Army dudes. The Cole that it has is the same one you can get from the Manta Ray Bomber (which I got for Cole in the first place). He is a very nice figure to have and this is a cool way to get him if you need him. The Lady Iron Dragon minifigure is awesome to have. I was hoping that she would appear in a set so the fact that she came in this one was awesome and convenient. Fred Finley is okay, nothing too special about him per say. The set also has 2 new Shark Army dudes, so if you have a Shark Army collection to get beat up by the Ninja, these dudes will do.
Next I will focus on the set itself. Like I said, it is just beautiful. The attention to detail is impeccable and it makes a great display and play set. For those who wondered how it stood up just like I did, it has a kickstand built in the back so you can easily stand it up. My favorite part of the set is the turntables in the cockpit. He has some AC/DC records playing and that is just awesome to me. Other features that are awesome are the HUGE tire, the arms with articulated fingers, and the shooting speakers. The tire is massive, it's honestly amazing. The way that the lower half of the set is designed looks amazing, especially with the tire. The arms have the shooting speaker mechanism, and let me tell you, this is one swole mech. The arms are big enough to be able to have the articulated hands, so he can pick up Shark Army dudes and fling them across the room. After he has flung them he can shoot them. This whole set is really fun to play with.
Overall this is a wonderful set. I can't say that there is one reason you shouldn't get it, because it is so great. Whether you want it for display, playing with, or both, this is an awesome set for all.

SatisfiedI like all the mech sets and garmadon army sets, not so much the location sets, but the quake mech was the set I was looking forward to the the most and it met all my expectations.
As much as I’d like the mechs to resemble their movie counterparts more, I understand the compromise and I think Lego did well to adjust the designs to keep the essence of the sets and now have it break the bank.

The Best Lego Mech Ever Made!As you saw on the title, this (in my opinion) is the best mech Lego has ever put out. Period. There are so many great things in this set I have to talk about, so here are my opinions on everything included in the set:
Mike the Spike: 8/10
Very basic. That’s all I need to say, but it is good to have him since he is good for play and army building.
Again, pretty basic. You get him in a lot of other sets, and if you collect Lego Ninjago Movie sets you will probably have him by now. And if you don’t, and want to get him then he does come in way cheaper sets. Still, good arm printing and nice accessory.
Crusher is definitely the best looking minifigure in this set. He has great armour and helmet (?). Also, great prints.
Great minifigure, but the face print wrecks it completely. What?!?!?! The face is terribly printed on Misako, as the print is not dark opaque enough, so because of the black head it is printed on, the print doesn’t come out right as it is too translucent. Still, this minifigure has outstanding printing and the arrows on her back look great, too. Still, the weakly printed face completely derails this minifigure.
Fred Finley: 9/10
I like this minifigure because of its rarity. Other than that I feel the printing is weak, and he looks pretty basic. Also, his torso can be used for custom minifigures (but if you only have one of Fred Finley I recommend not breaking him.
Quake Mech: 10/10
There are so many things I need to say about the Quke Mech, I have just put them all into the following list to be quick:
- The model is huge, and looks very daunting
- A lot of detail, like tubes, speakers, lights and flags
- The build may look very unstable because of the wheel, but on the back there is a stand that it balances on. Still, be careful since it can fall over if not handled well, especially on carpet.
- Speaking of the wheel, that thing is enormous!
- Lots of articulation in the fingers, elbows, and shoulders (?)
- It can roll around
- It can easily hold a minifigure in its hand
- I like all the speaker elements on the build, including the ones that can fire off
- The flags may look like they fall off, but are actually very stable.
- The cockpit can easily open, revealing a nice looking seat (not typical on a Lego mech) and two discs as the controls with outstandingly outstanding printing inside
- All the stickers add good detail, and none of them feel “unneeded”
Even though there are so many great things on the build, there are a few small cons as well.
- Odd colours such as yellow and blue are visible on parts of the build, like around the wheel, behind the speakers, and on the back
- It does fall over if not handled calmly, which is factor limiting play
Still, even with some cons this build deserves a full 10/10, since there are way more pros than cons.
All in all, a great set with a great price to part ratio. I highly recommend this set to older and more experienced builders since this set is difficult to put together and may be a challenge for less experienced builders. So, even though there are a few cons with the set, it is still worth the $100.
